Palin helps amplify guidance from COVID-19 Taskforce

Palin Communications assisted the public launch and communications infrastructure of the COVID-19 Clinical Evidence Taskforce.
ABOUT

The Palin Communications team recently helped with the public launch and communications infrastructure of the COVID-19 Clinical Evidence Taskforce.

The Taskforce brings together peak health professional bodies across Australia whose members are providing clinical care to people with COVID-19. It conducts continuous evidence surveillance to identify and rapidly synthesise emerging research in order to provide national, evidence-based guidelines for the clinical care of people with COVID-19.

The initial set of guidelines were made public in early April 2020 and Palin Communications worked with the Taskforce to co-ordinate the media relations outreach.

Palin Communications also helped establish the process of updating journalists on the weekly updates to the guidelines, summarising results via a digital communications dashboard and providing Steering Committee members with shareable content for their social media platforms.

By the end of May 2020, there had been more than 300 editorial stories across consumer and medical media that made reference to the work of the Taskforce or had been triggered by the weekly updates provided to journalists. There had also been dozens of social posts from stakeholders and Steering Committee members amplifying messages about the clinical guidance being issued by the work of the Taskforce.

“It was real privilege for the Palin Communications team to assist through the launch phase of such an important project,” said Palin Communications Managing Director Martin Palin
